revolutionary idea: pet ownership is not a human right.
cats scratch. dogs bark. certain rare pets are not adapted to living in a regular domestic setting. if your home is not suited for an animal to express their most basic natural behaviours or your situation makes absolutely predictable traits into dealbreakers, then you should not have that kind of pet. “but i want one” is not an acceptable excuse for owning an animal you can’t provide for.
This includes feeding them the diet they require, not the diet you think they should have because of your own moral beliefs.
Also: can’t afford the vet, don’t get the pet.
Yes yes and yes
I mean people in poverty cannot afford the vet but most of them take dogs off of the street and care for them anyway. Disabled people who may need animals like dogs for comfort may not be able to afford the vet but they still have dogs. A lot of black and brown people take dogs off of the street and care for them but they cannot afford vets. There are people living in poor neighborhoods and areas ( black, brown people again) and don’t have money for the vet but still have watch or guard dogs or family dogs.
This last part is incredibly white lmao. Like only rich white people can always afford to take their dogs to the vet and can say something as easy as “if you cant afford the vet then don’t get a dog”, and this is coming from someone who takes my dog to the vet for her checkups. The vets also overcharged us and gave our dog medication that didn’t help her (for her ears and anxiety), and we paid over $100 for that shit. Our vet gave our dog something that irritated her skin. We had to find home remedies to help her lmao.
Anyway, the idea that you shouldn’t own or have something if you cannot take it to the doctor always targets disabled people and poc. This idea extends to eugenics(if you can’t take kids to the doctor don’t have them - and no im not talking about vaccines which you should get).
And the alternative to “give up your dog if you can’t take it to the vet” is what? A shelter. Not all dogs get adopted out, in fact a small minority does. Other dogs end up getting killed by shelters.
Again, who ever believes that you must be able to afford a vet if you cannot, then don’t get a dog has never gone outside of America, (and Im talking about going to nonwesternized countries that are primarily brown and black), has never gone to a poor brown or black neighborhood, and hasn’t met a disabled person. This post is racist and ableist. At least the additions made by @ladydrace and @coolcatgroup
my animal crossing character, heelying into the museum wearing sunglasses and holding a pina colada in one hand and an enormous bug in the other: blathers, you’re not gonna fucking believe this,
speaking of military i had a couple come up to my job to buy tickets to the gallery and we were all sold out and the guy says “I’m military! don’t you think there’s anything you can do?” and his wife continues, “Yes! he’s active military!” and it took Everything In My Body to not burst out laughing as I repeated that we were sold out
white americans: can we get two tickets
me: we’re sold out
white americans: but i willingly participate in the destruction of other countries in the name of imperialism!!!! don’t ya think you can put your job on the line to let me in this sold out show for free?? :D
imagine trying out a super risky outfit ur not sure is gonna land well and on your way to the party you fall into a bog and become a bog body and in like 3,000 years they pull you out in like a pink mesh bathing suit with an applique that says “barbie girl” on the front tucked in as a body suit to a pair of track shorts that say “your card was declined” on the ass and a pair of elevated 90s gel sandals with a hitclips clipped to the strap with one cartridge (60 seconds of an nsync song) and they reconstruct you in a museum and tell the public that’s how people dressed
Bockstensmanen, a medieval person who happened to die in a bog which preserved his clothes (and more), clothes like hella comfy??
Like seriously. Comfy and warm wool clothes!
(yes this are pictures of his actual outfit, not reconstructed clothing. They were very well preserved in all except colour. The bog gave everything that yellow shade, i suspect)
It goes around the entire body! So perhaps not quite a mantel but.
A got a little hood with a fashionedble long thingy at the end
Warm that too! There is no openings for wind or anything, so like. Just pull hood over head, get warm!
Warm socks! Gotta keep em feets warm (and just like in english, the swedish words for trousers, byxor, is in plural in its normal form, just because the medieval version of trousers consisted of two separate peices like here.
Somewhere, there should be something for hos upper legs but idk were that one is)
Anyway! I do think one can tell that keeping warm was an important part of the logic behind bockstensmannens clothing. Not odd that, when he lived in Scandinavia and all…
When we already at it, with listning his entire outfit. Here his this shoes
Reconstruction in how he might have looked like in life. The musuem points out, that his skull was very smashed when found, werehas it might be a bit so so with this dolls facial similiarity with bockstensmannen in life. And his hair colour we know not, the bog will colour most hair red with enough time.
But that hairstyle! That he really had! Bockstensmannen wore like Peak Fluffy Medieval Hair Fashion in life
The entire doll wearing bockstensmannens reconstructed clothing
